The quieter details
Privacy, thoughtfully.
Gothic & Gathered collects the information needed to make the account, board, and enquiry features work.
Your account and boards
Your name, email address, securely hashed password, and saved boards are stored in D1. Session cookies keep you signed in. Boards are private to their owner in this version.
Device boards
If you save without an account, the gg-device-boards entry in local storage keeps board names and the identifiers of saved public items in this browser. These drafts are not uploaded to your account until you explicitly choose to move them while signed in. Anyone with access to the same browser profile may see them. You can remove device boards from My room, or erase them by clearing site storage. Once moved, boards are private to the account you chose.
Your reading list
When you save a library book, gg-reading-list-v1 in local storage keeps its identifier and your reading progress in this browser. The list is not uploaded to an account or shared between devices. Anyone using this browser profile may see it. Remove books using their save buttons, or clear site storage to erase the whole list. Library pages do not run our optional analytics.
Enquiries and newsletters
Contact form submissions are stored so an enquiry can be handled. On the live website, Resend delivers your name, email address, enquiry type and message to our inbox. We use your email address to reply. Newsletter signup records your email and consent; the form states whether a newsletter provider has been connected. In local development these records stay in the local database unless a delivery integration is configured.
Regional preferences
Your chosen country, language and currency are saved in the gg-edition cookie for 180 days. A separate cookie remembers when you dismiss the regional suggestion. The suggestion uses your browser language and an approximate country supplied by our hosting provider. We do not request your precise location.
Media and external links
The website and its database are hosted on Cloudflare Workers and D1. Uploaded images use Cloudflare R2. Product photographs may load from Amazon’s image servers, which receive the connection details needed to deliver the image. Following a product link takes you to Amazon, where their privacy practices apply.
Optional analytics
If you accept analytics, Google Analytics measures visits, page views and interactions. Microsoft Clarity provides heatmaps and session replays of how public pages are used, including clicks and scrolling. These providers receive device, browser and connection information. We do not send account identities or form values through our analytics integration; form and search-dialog content is masked for Clarity. Analytics is disabled on account, admin, private-board, contact and search pages, URLs containing free-text searches or unrecognised parameters, and while you are signed in. Standard campaign tags and public browsing filters can be measured. Advertising storage and personalisation consent remain denied.
Spam and account protection
Cloudflare Turnstile checks contact messages, newsletter signups, registrations and sign-ins for automated abuse. The check runs when you submit a form and may ask for a brief interaction. Cloudflare receives the browser and connection information needed to perform that check. It is used for security independently of optional analytics consent. Your form message and password are not sent to Turnstile. Existing rate limits and same-site request checks provide additional protection.
Your choices
You can accept or reject optional analytics and change your choice using Cookie preferences in the footer. Withdrawing analytics consent removes the analytics cookies available to our site and reloads the page to stop the tracking scripts. It does not erase information already received by the providers. You can also update your account details, change your password, and remove saved items and boards. Contact Gothic & Gathered using the contact form for access, correction or deletion requests that are not available in your account.
