Essential storage runs the account features and remembers your choice. Optional Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity load only after you accept analytics.
Essential storage
The gg_session cookie authenticates your account and is not accessible to page scripts. The gg-cookie-preferences entry in local storage records your analytics choice, preference version and the time you saved it. If you refuse analytics, the essential gg_analytics_opt_out cookie also remembers that refusal for 180 days so a failed storage update cannot restore an older acceptance. We ask again after 180 days or when the preference version changes. Old essential-only acknowledgements do not grant analytics consent.
Device-board storage
The gg-device-boards local-storage entry is used when you choose to save inspiration without an account. It contains your board names and saved item identifiers and stays in this browser until you remove it, clear site storage or move unchanged drafts into an account. It works independently of optional analytics consent. A temporary gg-device-import-notice session-storage entry may show the result of a move and is removed after display. Accept essential does not erase your device boards.
Regional settings
The gg-edition cookie remembers your country, language and currency when you apply your preferences. The gg-region-dismiss cookie remembers when you keep the current edition. Both last up to 180 days. Open Region settings to change your choice.
Reading-list storage
The gg-reading-list-v1 local-storage entry remembers library books and their reading progress when you choose to save them. It works independently of optional analytics consent and stays in this browser until you remove the books or clear site storage. Accept essential does not erase your reading list. Library pages do not load our optional analytics.
Google Analytics
With analytics consent, Google Analytics measures visits, page views and interactions with public content. Its _ga and _ga_* cookies distinguish browsers and sessions; our integration limits their lifetime to 180 days, renewed with use. Google signals and advertising personalisation are disabled, and advertising-related consent stays denied. No Google analytics script or analytics request is initiated before you agree.
Microsoft Clarity
With analytics consent, Microsoft Clarity records public-page usage for heatmaps and masked session replays. Its first-party _clck and _clsk cookies connect browsing activity. Form fields, search dialogs, saved-board dialogs and newsletter forms are masked. We pass analytics consent to Clarity separately from advertising consent, which remains denied. No Clarity script is loaded before you agree.
Managing your preferences
Choose Accept all to allow optional Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, or Accept essential to keep both off. Preferences explains the categories and shows your current analytics choice. You can return to Cookie preferences in the footer at any time. Choosing Accept essential removes accessible first-party analytics cookies and reloads the page to discard the tracking scripts. Previously collected information may remain with the providers. Clearing all site storage in your browser also resets your preference, signs you out and removes device boards that have not been moved into an account.
